Syia - Core Concept
I’m going to expand on the core concept of my world building. Taking a similar vein to Rich Burlew of GITP, I’ll document my thoughts and decisions.
I’ve been playing in a joint homebrew world for 6 years (I think? could be longer) and felt a strong urge to set out on my own and build a world. I’ve been playing a low magic dark age fantasy for a long while and wanted a break from that, so I’m going high fantasy! I’ve had lots of ideas from my teens that never panned out but I’ve always kept a record of them in my head. So after an ever growing pantheon I’ve started out with one deity. Named Syia.
the core concept to Syia is that she is world in its entirety. Its life force and creator. In a way I want her to have an ethereal and physical presence in the world and have adopt the tree of life motif from norse mythology and adopted a few ideals from pagan believes. So we have a mass tree, this is start of the world. O could contain to only the tree but I want the tree to be apart of the worlds mythos and not a landmark for tourists. Of course having ONE deity is boring in a game environment, so to avoid a very linage world Syia has created or more I’ve created Immortal Guardians, either by design or fluke. So far I have 5, each taking an aspect or element. From these Guardians they themselves have made servants to help them in their tasks etc etc. Already there’s spalling Pantheons, maybe not all are ‘gods’ persay but are powerful and widely varied. I have half of them nailed down in concept but some are still very airy fairy. So far I have Father Wood, fae origin and keeper of the woods. Bol the sleeping mountain, earth aspect, a fire immortal, still needs a name, same for the water. The air i have a concept of several thousand air spirits forming a hive mind.
but we need contrast to the world, thats where the Worldeater comes in …
